Can you donate Rs.5,000/per year?
An Appeal
Dear Friend,
Please spend a few minutes to go through the following appeal from the BMC Trust.
We built the digital library/Seminar hall complex for the Golden Jubilee of the college beacause of generous donations from alumni like yourself. The project was well thought out and has gone on to be a great ‘success’. From the beginning, it was clear that we would complete the project and also maintain it ourselves, because the government would be unable to sustain the maintenance expenditure. We knew that a sum of RS. 10-12 lakhs would be needed each year to maintain the facility. Also, we realised that to raise a corpus of Rs. 2 crores towards this expenditure was unreasonable. Hence, it was planned to raise smaller donations from the alumni each year to maintain the facility. We floated the idea of daily sponsorship at Rs. 5000=00 a day. If we get 250 such sponsors each year, our target would be met. We had mentioned this in several communications to you in the past.
Somehow, the alumni as a group have lost the momentum after the Golden Jubilee Celebrations. Unless we rededicate ourselves towards the task at hand – that of maintaining the facilty that we all so lovingly gifted to the college – this tremendous ‘gift’ may go waste.
If there is anything else we, the office bearers, have to do, please let us know. But please donate liberally to maintain the digital library and encourage your BMC friends to do so.
Yours Sincerely,
Dr K Lakshman
